Rendezvous

Female sexuality tends to be raw and striking (most often found in print) or intertwined with some form love and passion (most often found in film and television.)  I hope to express a different facet through these photos, a comfortable female sexuality.

Although not my original intention, as I looked through my photos, I realized how often power is associated with sex and I wanted to deliberately shy away from that relationship.  Much like how one can exude confidence without being threatening, sexuality does not have to be about power or control either.

Beyond that, I want this project to raise a few questions about female sexuality.  Can female sexuality be elevated to the level of beauty without having to tie it down to associations of love?  How can women be sexy without their character being judged?  How can women be provocative and beautiful at the same time?  I tried to find a place of respect and beauty, while working within the confines of what typically is sexy, e.g. a hotel room, lingerie, and a sexy girl.  Not everyone will agree that I have accomplished that, but I hope it makes people think about where we draw the lines between sexuality and one’s character, male or female, and whether that is a valid judgment.
